Watercolor Florals Class with Ashley Ruff
Time: 9:15-10:30 am
Monday March 16, 23, 30, April 6
Join artist Ashley Ruff for a 4-session watercolor journey designed to help you slow down, breathe deeply, and create vibrant floral artwork you’ll be proud to frame.
Watercolor has a uniquely freeing quality — the way the pigment moves, blends, and blooms on the page reminds us that beauty often happens when we let go of control. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to blend color confidently, paint soft, flowing florals, and build balanced compositions — all while embracing the calming, healing rhythm of the brush.
Whether you’re brand new to painting or simply craving creative space, this class invites you to loosen up, trust the process, and enjoy the freedom watercolor offers. You’ll leave with finished floral paintings ready to frame — and a renewed sense of creative confidence.
✨ Beginner-friendly
✨ Leave with frame-ready artwork
✨ A relaxing, restorative creative experience

About Ashley
Ashley Ruff is a painter inspired by nature, global textiles, and natural light. Her art celebrates botanical life through vibrant and bold hues. Her love for color began early—she vividly recalls matching her peridot birthstone earrings to her sweater on her first day of school. This early fascination with color led her to experiment with her father’s Pentax 35mm camera, sparking a lifelong passion for photography and design.
She earned a BFA in Graphic Design and Photography from Winthrop University and has spent more than 17 years creating and directing art, design, and photography. In recent years, Ashley has turned her focus to watercolor and acrylic painting, blending her love of color and nature into her work. She offers original paintings, a small selection of home products, and fine art prints. In addition to her artwork, Ashley designs textiles and household products featuring her original patterns, and provides web design and branding services for businesses.

Silhouette Portrait Painting. This class will teach students how to use shadows as a guide when looking for details. Silhouettes are a great example of how to bring in important and unique detail even when not all of the information is there. Think of how beautiful a backlit tree can be, or the fun shadow of Peter Pan. These silhouettes allow you to know exactly what you are looking at, even when the details in colors and textures may be missing.
This silhouette project will be kept at the studio until our April frame workshop with Palmetto Arts in Chapin. You will get more information about this field trip soon!

IMPORTANT SUPPLIES INFORMATION:
We will have basic supplies provided by the studio, but if you want to take your paints home to practice, we have 2 options for you.
Option 1: $15 paint filled palette & brush
Option 2: $55 full set of watercolor tubes, palette & brush.
These add-ons are completely optional, but if watercolor is something you would like to continue with outside of the studio, we do recommend purchasing one of the supply bundles. Once you register for the class we will send a detailed email with your supply options.
Her work can be found on Instagram at @imagetoimpact_art

Ish Art Class
For years, we have been teaching everyone who takes a class from our studio that art doesn’t have to be perfect. You can create a master piece using the rules, tools, and elements of art - or not! We have tried to give each student the confidence to view themselves as artists and creators, even when things don’t go as planned.
The book “Ish” by Peter H Reynolds has become our guiding principle and is a lesson we refer to often. (Yes, we are trying to figure out how to have books for you to purchase and add to your own home libraries!)
So to start off 2026, we will be hosting a 4 week ISH Art series.
5yo to 12 yo
Tuesday February 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th
*There will be no final show for this class

2026 Spring Classes
We are honored to announce another season of weekly art classes! We strive to make sure the lessons we teach build creativity, skill, and confidence in each artist who visits our studio. This year, we are announcing a few different classes for older kids and people who want to dive a little deeper!
These 8-week sessions will build on each other, so it is important that your child attends each class. If there is a reason your child will miss, please be in touch so we can make up any lost work before the end of the session art show.
Each class we will provide all materials needed. For our more intensive classes, we may also provide a supplies list, but it will not be required for the class. Please just dress your child ready to get messy, I mean, creative!

Juried Art Show
We are so excited to announce our first-ever Juried Art Show featuring the artwork of our Little Mountain Little Art League!
A juried art show is an exhibition centered on a single theme chosen by a panel of judges. The goal is to showcase quality art created outside of our studio and encourage our community to join us for an opening reception and awards night on January 22nd.
For this show, we have asked our LM Little Art League Members to create their own master piece inspired by what it means to create art“ish”. One of our core lessons at Called is that there are no mistakes in art; you can take any rogue mark, paint splatter, or piece of trash and turn it into a beautiful masterpiece if you just use a little creativity! We felt this would be a fitting prompt to kick off our first-ever Juried Show and allow each artist in residence to showcase their creativity and ability to make art-ish.
The artwork has been submitted by our League members and will be judged by members of the Little Mountain Community. Thursday, January 22nd, we will host our opening reception and invite the community and family members to join our art league for the judging and awards! The artwork will remain on display at the studio through Saturday, January 24th.
**If you would like to join the art league and take part in the juried show, please click HERE to find out more information!

Meet The Artist:
Layne Cromer is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Peak, South Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in ceramics from Clemson University in 2024. Cromer’s work explores themes of coming of age, growing up in the rural South, and the influence of religion—experiences that have deeply shaped her artistic voice and identity. Cromer’s work aims to foster connection with viewers, whether or not they share her specific lived experiences.
